mg is used by everything in a tank. it is one of the essential elements of growing coralline. it should stay anywhere from 1300-1500. Higher won't hurt, but that is the range it should be in

definitely test first, Bulk Reef Supply - Bulk Reef Supply get the mg chloride and sulfate, you mix them as directed and use small amts until desired level is reached, then monitor and add as needed. do you test Calcium too? Proper levels of Mg will also stabilize your Ca.

search on here. there are probably 100+ articles on the use of Mg and Ca :)

I have used both methods to raise Mg. Both work. I currently use the top suggestion.

I also agree and stress to test first, dose later.

I personally like my Mg to be 3.5x my Calcium. (so for me, 400 Ca and 1400 Mg are my targets at 11-12 dKH).
