    Hello Everyone,

I just got these Ceramic Magnets from Home Depot and want to know if they are reef safe so I can build my frag rack.

They are all black magnets, and say Ceramic Block Magnets on them. There is nothing fancy about them at all.

Please let me know if they are safe to go into my reef to hold the rack. Thanks in advance,

    Robert

You should be ok with these, since it's the same type of magnet they use for impellers. I'm not sure if impeller magnets are epoxy coated though, so I would strongly suggest coating them in either epoxy or silicone to be on the safe side.

I would silicone coat them very thinly on the glass-touching sides anyway, as it gives you the slight bit of bounce to keep them from crashing together too hard on ya.
