magnetic frag rack

have any of you build a mag rack yet? if so where can i buy the epoxy neo? magnet? i google, came up w a million places. any suggestion should be great.

 

magnets have heavy metals don't they. could be bad for a tank. just a thought don't know for shure

 

You would have to get Neo magnets that are either plastic coated, resin coated or rubber coated as to not leach any unwanted metals into your tank. As far as the magnets, Neo's are the way to go like I said. Some poeple have them with regular coated magnets but if your frags/corals get to heavy........it will let loose.

 

i was looking at the epoxy coated, like what mag-rack.com has

 

The epoxy coated isnt a real good idea, if you look at them some of them have a seam on the side and tend to split, I would use Polyester Casting Resin available at any craft store like michaels or online here.

Edit: Upon further review I see that Mag-Racks.com is using Polyester Casting Resin.

 

I guess they dip the epoxy mag into the polyester for another layer

That and to attach the rack to the magnet from the looks of it.
