Ok we'll I seem to have a major problem keeping my nems in healthy living...
I have a 1 foot long Mag Nem,it was was doing great in the prvious owners tank...It even split and created a little 1...
my problem is that I've been noticing it not extending it's tentilces no longer and it's like a puffed ball hanging on the rear of my glass...
It use to open when I first had it always even in the night...
I do water changes every week 2 pails with arrerating the mix for a good 20 hours...
What I'm skeptical about is i've been feeding the nem 1 whole tiger raw peeled shrmp...
I think this could be the problem...If you fellow refers can help me on this that would be great...as i fear of loosing my nem, also I'll have to start planning my back up water change and rid of his remains if this happens...
right now i'm not feeding the nem seeing that maybe the tiger shrimp is the main problem in this matter...:-/

Ok, so, what are your water parameters (be specific)? What kind of lighting do you have? How often have you fed it the shrimp? What SG and temperature was the water change water you mixed when you put it in the tank? How often do you top off? What size tank? Where is it in the tank? High, low, mid, in the sand, in the rocks, direct or indirect light?

Answer this stuff, or any answer is going to be pure speculation

I looked at your thread, and I see the anemone on the back wall high in the tank. This leads me to believe you have a lighting issue going on perhaps. Your tank looks fairly deep.

I would cut back on the size of pieces of the shrimp.

The first thing that comes to mind is that your tank may not be cycles eough, or you dont have anough light or flow. How often have you been feeding? It could be the type of food you use. I've always had luck with silversides. I don't know much about Mags, but I have Rose Bud Anemones. If it's not opening up to eat, try enticing it with something smaller. Such as Cyclopeeze or Zooplex. Or maybe it's something wrong with your water quality? That's the best I can offer. Hope it helps.

Ok we'll the lighting is a single HQI double ended 250 watt metal halide unit it's powring a 25,000k bulb...the depth of the tank is 2 feet down..
the previous owner had the same effect with the Nem it loved it up there...I don't think it;s the lighting not what so ever....
Also to add in the other corals are florishing and extending so the lighting can't be an issue...
It's also on for 6 hours with the 1st hour an actinic for an hour, then the halide for six hours, then back to 1 hour of actinic before lights out...
    ;)
as for the shrimp,I'm feeling it could be we'll off the shrimp feeding...or the other which is my tank not ready...???
the tank has been running for 5 months now and the nem was doing great I've been keeping up the regular water changing...which is 2 pails of 4 gallon so 8 gallon every friday...
i don't dose anything just pure water changing...
 I'm just very weirded out with this matter...i'm also running swc bio pellets for a month and a half now and it seems to give me a good outcome on my water conditioning...although I'll test for phospate's tmw and nitrates and let you know...:-[

5 months... I don't think that's enough, especially for a Mag. How large is the tank? Do you have any power heads or pumps aimed towards it?

A single 250 I do not think is enough light at 25k. The PAR value that bulb has is pretty weak (hence the reason the anemone is moving upwards), my advice- go get your self a 14k bulb, heck even a 10k, and run this for a few days- you will notice very quickly how your tank "opens" up due to the additional PAR value. Are you running any attinic bulbs?

Anemone's are picky critters, and I only feed mine solids 2-3 times a month- it's all they really need, the rest they get from the lighting and what ever they get from the water flow.

BTW, I use a 150 HQI and twin 14 watt atinics on a 29 gallon tank- and it's just enough for this tank. I have nearly 1100 watts on my 165 gallon- lighting is very important for anenomes, if you want them to do well.

    Hope this helps.
