Hey guys, I have been eyeballing a a magnificent foxface at my LFS. It is healthy and fat. It has been there a year. Think I might like to get it in a couple weeks, but foxfaces are coral nippers from what I read, right? Anyone have one? Let me know what your opinions and experinces are with it. This would be in a mixed reef. thanks !

We had one in a 150 dispaly tank at work and it loved to eat chalices, tracis, acans, dendros, .... Needless to say he got the boot. Not worth it in my book.

I've had 1 in a mixed reef with no problems. As with anything else, each individual will have it's own personality, so there's never any guarantee.

Foxface are one of my favorite fish.
I've had them in a few tanks and never have seen them nip at corals.

They are voracious algae eaters. At the top of the algae eating list over Kole tangs in my experience having had both.

They grow large. That is their only shortcoming I am aware of.

I have a one spot FF and I'm just starting to add coral. I bought a small frag with about 10 small zoas and he ate them in 3 days. I just bought a rock with larger zoas to give him a second chance, it's been 4 days and he hasn't touched them. So who knows?!!?

Yes, very similar if not the same, just larger in size.

Went and looked at it again today, it really isn't that "magnificent". Anything to help them color up. I still like it and it is fat. They knocked 25 bucks off if i want it. down to 125
