Ok, it's been a loooooooong time, and even though I'm not absolutely happy with my reef (I think it still needs a lot of work), I think I really owe everyone and even to my tank itself an update. Specially after surviving the 17 hour blackout the thunderstorm caused. Things are back to normal.

I'll just post the pics. Please, feel free to click on them and zoom in. Some of them can zoom in quite a bit for details.

What is this dark red, velvet looking algae on the rock below? My brother in law had it all over and by taking one of his shroom rocks that was about to die I transfered to my tank.

Thanks! Except for the pulsing zebra xenia that looks like it wants to start melting, and my forest fire that isn't getting enough light and losing color, everything else seems to be doing well. I'm going to give up on the xenias. I don't really want to deal with them and I'll try to get them to my LFS if they will take them.

I have new bulbs coming with UPS and I'll try the new pics while transitioning from old bulbs, to 2 new and 2 old and then a few weeks later, all 4 of them new. And tomorrow I'll run another full range test to see where I'm at. It is time to recheck my cal/alk demand and adjust my dosage slowly as well.

After all the hard work I did last night, I realized how much I'm neglecting my reef with this crazy work hours. So... let's see what we can do...

    :)

That is the blue ridge (Heliopora coerulea), Cheryl. It used to extend its polyps during the night, but I'm not sure why it hasn't in a while. It does keep growing though and does not seem to care about the light condition. Once I change my bulbs we'll see what it does. LA says it likes moderate-strong current and strong light and I have it in a lower current area, in the middle of the tank.
It also mentions that it is an octocoral Soft coral with a thin exoskeleton.

    I like it very much.

Nothing to be sorry about ;-) Unfortunately I was never able to ID #11. I did ask, but nothing came up, just an unknown SPS for now.
Number 11 is a frag that started as a single tiny stick, and once it took off, It wont stop growing. I fragged this one already 3 times, and broke off some branches while messing with the tank and it always seems to be bigger regardless.

Here's a post with some of my corals when I first got them :)

Very nice Magnus, the velvety red stuff is a type of coralline algae.

    Thank u, bud!

    Thanks!!

Can you give me a name for the coralline, if possible? My brother in law was able to brush it off his rock with a tooth brush, but had to scrub quite a bit.

I thought it was a nuisance? It just looks like it got ouf of control in my in-law's tank, and he's the one that doesn't even buy test kits, light replacements, over feeds etc. I really doubt his tank can maintain Coraline since he doesn't water change and doesn't dose anything.
