I just recieved my first online purchase from reefs2go. I ordered 2 pink pin cussion urchins, 2 feather dusters, ten nerite snails, and ten hermit crabs. the hermit crabs and the snails look alrite, but im a bit worried about the urchins and the dusters. the water in the urchin bag is a nasty brown color, and i cant even tell if the feather dusters are alive. I have them aclimating to my tank right now. im a bit nervouse about adding them do the tank. Anybody have any suggestions?
oh and the water in the bags was pretty dam cold. there's 2 feet of snow on the ground here in jersey and im sure that little heater bag didnt do much good in the mail....

I would probably set up some sort of quarintine tank for them. A bucket will work. Add some tank water and an airstone or small pump and dump them in. If the water is brown I think they are a goner and don't suggest dumping them in the display.

You might want to contact them early. They are very slow in response to anything. Our club stop buying from them. Next time use reef cleaners, much better.

+1 on the acclimating regiman. The dark colour may just be poop from the urchins, they should bounce back but ordering feather dusters online is always a hit or miss from what I've read. ;)

every thing seemed to wake up alrite except one of the urchins. I'm going to set up a quarantine tank for him for the night and see if he wakes up...

I got a pink urchin from them that didn't move for a week after I put it in the tank. Then it was an algae eating machine! So give it some time. But if the spines fall off - then it's probably dead.
