NO3, PO4, Si fuel algae. carbon, rowaphos, regulating your feeding, a refugium, lots of live rock, husbandry, high pH, and clean up crew will help

I found that an oxidizer helps to speed up the change also.

standard maintenance, cleaning and so on

ozone or uv kills all bacteria including good, and it doesnt rid of the source of the problem

how is your system set up?

I was talking an oxidizer to help clean it up. The oxidizer would be a very temporary situation to help clean up the residue from the initial problem. You still have to find the problem/root cause and fix it, or it is only a temporary fix (and it will grow back)

its a 180 gallon BB with a 40g sump. There has to be about 200lbs of LR. All parameters are fine. Ph is a bit low.. 7.89

From what I've read, higher the ph is better for fighting hair algae
