The quite stockman is quite on "your" system though. Every system is different. If you look at aquarium plumbing photos every tanks plumbing design is different. Bends , elbows straights ect. When air is in the lines maybe I should say It "may" create noise.
With the siphon systems there is no air in the lines so there is no noise. I am not saying it's impossible to have a quite system with the standard overflows but some sort of noise is the norm.
Here's a good read on silent overflows:

Agree with every system is different. When I bought my system from someone they had made the durso and 1 was slightly higher than the other and real small vent hole and things were noisy.

After last tear down (was going to sell it, then decided not to) I built new durso and major difference. The smallest details made a huge difference

Do to current overflow configuration of my system and a lot of others the Bean would not feasible. I did watch couple videos and agree they are freaking quiet.

    Poseiden- WE NEED PICS!!!

This, as any system can be worked out.

But I for one need to SEE what you're using and how.

I agree with most of all the advice you have as well.

It doesn't matter whose system a Stockman or Durso is on, any and all can be made totally silent. If there is noise it is either due to too large of a drop over the overflow weir or fittings, bends and restrictions in the plumbing not allowing a laminar flow.

Try it yourself if you doubt it. The airline trick is not mine and it does work very well.
