What would you do have a float kit and a auto shutoff valve or have a holding tank of some sort to replace evap water i have seen a couple set ups of both and have read that holding tanks are better whats your take or it

ATO's are great but have heard horror stories when the float switch goes bad and doesnt stop pumping water to your system, thus over flowing onto your floor. Luna

I couldnt begin to tell you that b/c theres no way of knowing when they go bad. I dont have one b/c of that. You could either store some(FW) in containers or have a high gph R/O unit. Luna

I bet if you used 2 float valves instead of one, your chances of a failed system are reduced. Not sure how you would rig that, though.

Not sure either, but you can change them out every yr or so to avoid that problem. Just a thought. Luna

Just make sure you keep it with an air pump and a PH. Luna

I don't know if you are still figuring out an auto-top off or not, but I found a nifty kit.

    auto top-off components

The top 3 are the kits and the first one is the one I am looking at getting. It comes with 2 float switches at different levels, and the top float switch is a fail safe. If your main switch ever fails, the water level won't rise above the back-up (which is slightly elevated).

As a heads up, what the kit doesn't include that you will need is an extension core you don't mind cutting up and a water pump.

I'm buying one from that exact same site. :)

I'll be getting the second one, that way if my water reservoir gets too low, it will stop pumping water to my sump (keeps the top-off pump from burning out).
