Right now, I am trying to attack the infestation of pest anemones in my tank. The aptasia aren't a huge problem because they are not very numerous and I can take the few that there are out easily with Aptasia-X. The majanos, however, are a bigger issue. They are far more numerous in my tank and the Aptasia-X doesn't seem to work as well on them. Unless you really douse them they tend to come back. I've tried peppermint shrimp, but the always seem to disappear, probably courtesy of my huge christmas wrasse. Anyone have any ideas for how to attack them? Anyone have experience with majanos? I really appreciate any ideas.

matted filefish, racoon butteflyfish, bicolor angel. not vouching for the reef safeness of these species.

supposedly you can dip rocks in tropic marin coral pro cure and the nems let go eventually.

I've read some people saying that pygmy angels will eat them, like the bicolor and flame. Is that true?

only heard of the bicolor doing it, even then with these fish its not a sure thing. The best bet is supposedly the filefish(Acreichthys tomentosus).

I don't want the filefish because that would probably do more harm than good. I might try a bicolor angel, considering it's a fish I've been considering anyway.

Actually, I just read a bit about them. I thought they got enormous, but they stay small and a lot of the sites say they can be reef safe. I'll do some more research about these guys and maybe look into the matted filefish.

on the angels, I've had two (Flame & Potters) in my reef and neither ate the little Majano outbreak that I had unfortunately. Since my outbreak was small I killed them all with Joe's Juice, have never seen another one since.

    best of luck!

filefish are pretty hard to keep as I think they only eat SPS coral polyps, I love the orange spotted one but could never keep one. I believe they're very hard to get eating frozen food, if you can find one, def nab it.

    from bluezooaquatics site:

This beautiful fish is all too frequently purchased based on its looks alone without any thought as to its long-term husbandry. An obligatory corallivore in the wild, the orangespotted filefish is a highly selective feeder that only identifies live coral as appropriate foodstuff. It has now been proven that the orangespotted filefish can survive and thrive on a captive diet not inlude live coral flesh, but weaning a wild-caught fish onto that captive diet can test the patience of even the most dedicated advanced aquarist.

My LFS has an aptasia eating filefish that is eating all sorts of frozen food. My concern is that he may not touch majano, which is 90 percent of my problem. Regardless, its an awesome fish, so I'll grab it and hope for the best.

easiest solution that will kill anything is to just boil some water and inject the boiling water into the mouths of the majano and they will die off quickly
