I let the girlfriends kids check out the tank while I was in the shower and the oldest took the liberty of dosing my tank 32 ounces of two different live phytoplankton cultures....I have dirty looking brown rock and thought it was a temporary Diatom Bloom but low and behold it is something much much larger...it is very dark brown and turning into daRK brown long hair algae..And my tank is very very cloudy....I just done a 12 gallon water change and no help from that....What is the answer? I assume since a water change did not help any it is not going to just die out....What should I do....

How fast did the algae appear after the dosing?
I would do a LARGE water change upwards to 50% to get all that dead/dying phyto out of there first and foremost. When did the dosing happen?

Yep, your going to want to remove it as quickly as possible. I would also set the skimmer to skim wet. Take a turkey baster and blast the rocks as well to get anything that may have settled back up in suspension. Also, even a cheap HOB filter with a sponge and bag of carbon will really help to clear the water.

It was about 3 days ago and I just sunk all my money into a wet dry filter or a fuge or a sump or whatever this contraption is and have no money to spend and the built in skimmer on it does not worek nor does the coralife 125 super skimmer I bought a few months ago I am running the Jebo right now but it floods the tank with macro bubbles and all the fish hide out under the rocks I will turn to a real wet skim and hope to collect some of this stuff out. I just mixed up about 15 gallons and after that the salt is out until the 3rd of next month...thnx for all the input...I will do what I can...what kind of algae is it? Even my powerfilter took a dump so carbon is temporarily a thought only....What kind of algae is this and what am I up against long term? It turned all my zoa's brown and I dust them several times a day....

It's probably hair algae. The phyto most likely caused a nitrate/phosphate spike which is feeding the algae. Get rid of the extra phyto, and the algae should follow in its demise.

I sure hope so my tank has been through some stuff but has never looked this ugly....That might explain the Cyano lookin stuff creepin back in...I would show you my readings but they wouldnt be accurate in this situation although 40 is not that far out for nitrates but I am afraid thats a false reading....llllll
