ok i have been told that if i want damsels and clownfish in my tank (just an example) i would want to buy the damsels first in a group and then the clowfish in a group. Is this right? If it is, i am going to buy some damsels. what i need to know is if the yellow tails are reef safe or not...

No don't buy a bunch of damsels. They are very aggressive. Most people don't suggest damsels at all. However out of all the damsels I have noticed the yellow tail is kept the most without major complaints(only Qty 1 in your tank if any).

My 30gl I have 1 yellow tail damsel, qty 2 Perc Clowns, a green chromis, qty 2 firefish, a yellow watchman goby, and 1 blue tang(Juvenile about an 1" to 1.5", as this grows I have a 135 FOWLR I can move it to).
