Is this real? What is the best way to do it if so. I have a 55 gal that I would like to make a sump for. Not quite sure what size to go with so suggestions would be great! But wondering if there is an easy DIY over flow box??

The bigger the better. No DIYing an overflow is not easy but it can be done.Unfortunately you will probably spend almost as much on materials as you would to just purchase one.

+1 You are better off just buying one. For my 55, I have an Eshopps 1000 overflow into an Eshopps R-200 sump/refugium. The overflow is definitely overkill for my return pump (around 550 GPM), but you are always better to have the overflow oversized as Vinny said.

I was actually refering to his sump size. You don't want to get too large of an overflow or you run the risk of bubbles accumulating in the utubes that may break the siphon.

Oh ok, sorry for misunderstanding you. I only use one of the two utubes that mine came with for this reason :)

    Overfow box? Smoverflow box.
If you want a superior, easy to DIY, CHEAP $ system,

Check out my system I currently have on my 125.

Think out of the bos my friend. Just b/c they made expensive boxes,, sumps, etc., doesn't mean you have to use any of it. If you want identical or sperior performance, check out my system quickly shown near the end of my Vid in my signature.
Then PM please if you want to know more. YOu can build a similar systen for a fraction of the cost of items on the market.

You can scour pages upon pages of Googled threads on the subject.

Or you can get a 'cliff notes' version from me.

It does not have to cost much at all!!

    PM if interested.
