makeing Refugium

    have a 20 long these are the marks of were im going to put the sheets of acrilic. what do u think? Need advise b4 i cut.the right is were the fuge will be and the left is were the return pump and skimmer will sit.

    Quick question, will the return be on the taller or shorter side? Looks good though.

    You need another set of acrylic to create three compartments.

    You want three separate areas in that set up. One side for the incoming tank water, the opposite side for the return and the largest (center) area for your mud/sand and macro algae etc...

    Thanks for this!! I am going to be building my sump/refuge here shortly. What is your take on drilling into the side verses just letting it flow over the top of the tank?

    This Fuge was given to me by a friend. I have made a few in its footprint.

    I Personally believe that if you don't have a specific reason or need to drill the Glass then Don't.

    Also, take a look at the separator on the left side. It is one piece of plexi with about 15-20 one inch holes drilled in it. It is a pain in the behind to drill but it creates a nice easy flow through the refugium area.

    The display is a 20 Gal Long and the Fuge is a 15 gal

    If you go up to my first post you will see the tank specs in the Sig.
