Ok. So although i've been trying to avoid spending anymore money, my creative half got the better of me and i've decided I want to make a sump. I cannot drill into the tank. It is a nano system, and at this point the equipment I have in my possession is an extra 10 gallon glass tank, protein skimmer, powerhead [which im sure cannot be used in the sump.] and a heater. How do I go about doing this, and what more do I need in terms of equipment?

I'm not great with plumbing, hah so simple language is much appreciated :)

With the return pump- do I just attatch some tubing to the output and put it in the tank, or do you use..i forget what it's called... the pvc piping with small holes in it to even out the water flow?

Also, how big of a water capacity should an overflow hold for a small tank? And as far as filling the sump 30-40% before starting the system, that water is newly prepared [not out of the tank]?

Sorry for asking so many questions haha, i'm just getting a good feel for whats involved before I start on this. Although i'm sure this will all make more sense once I start putting it together.

The water for the sump is newly prepared . And for your return pipe . You can just put it in the tank or you can put a TEE so the water will flow in to direction. Thats up to you !

    Thanks for the help-

I went out and bought Lexan for the overflow, and acrylic for the sump. I'll post pictures later for purposes of feedback/suggestions.

For an overflow, i'm going to attempt this little gem-

And for the sump, well i'm going to get a little creative.
