Hey guys, I have always had an affection for triggers, i love their personality. Below is a link of a trigger i no longer own. left the tank w/ my dad, came back, gone:cry:. But now I have a undulate trigger;D. He is great to watch, you just have to hide from him though. Hes really scared of people. I've had him for a few weeks and he still hasn't warmed up to me. I keep the tank stocked with small crabs and fish, for him to eat. both of which he is great at hunting. So i rarely have to feed him. Is this why he doesn't like me? do i need to stop giving him live food and start a feeding regime? Below is a link to a video of one of my past triggers, this is what i want him to be like.

how big is the tank? i hope its at least a 55 if its small. also i do not think keeping fish and crabs in there on purpose for food is a good idea at all. collecting fish just to feed them to the trigger is cruel. i would buy a thing of shrimp and just throw in a piece once a day.

what tank is your undulate in? they are very aggressive and are known to kill anything that moves and my one i used to have would even rearrange the rock work to its liking.

my old rectangular in that video used to move rocks too. But the undulate is in the 55, my only other marine tank is a 6g nano. But the trigger actually seems to mesh well with his current tank mates:

    -1 blue damsel
    -1 yellowtail blue damsel
    -1 yellow/canary wrasse

He never seems to bother them except for when a damsel goes into the trigger's lair, they just get chased out but he rarely continues to chase them(actually never), not all out attacked.

that trigger will probably reach around 17 inches with in a year so that tank is not going to last you much longer at all. also once it gets bigger and more established in the tank you can kiss those fish goodbye

well that being said, in addition to the fact that i want corals and a lion, i may have to trade him in:(. He works great in my setup as is but i had no idea he would grow like that! I thought he'd be the same as my Humuhumu's

no trigger can be kept long term in a 55 gallon tank, all of them get over 12 inches. but i your looking for a peaceful one for now a niger trigger would work good. i had one that was about 7 inches in my 75 gallon for a while that did great and they are really pretty but my snowflake ate it.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but most Undy's will never see 12", let alone 17" in a year. It's taken my Queen nearly four years to grow to 22".
