Bacteria :) Give your tank about 2-3weeks of cycling. The bacteria will form and help hold the sand particals together.

alright for those of you who didnt understand, I have sand in my tank which has been established for about 6 months. It was initially reg marine sand bought at the fish store seeded with about 20% LS. Now the problem that have had in the past and continue to have is the sand gets stirred up very easily. (Ie water changed, dropping something in the tank, putting your hand in the tank) does this clarify my question?

    HEHE,
Ya thanks, I know you prob wrote the last post in a real hurry.
Usually by now the sand would have developed a slim coat that would hold all the fine particle together.
I can't remember, How big is the Tank, and How much Live rock?
did you rise the sand before adding it to the tank?

[d]If during the cycling process your ammonia did not spike high enough, you could be low on the dentrifying bacteria that produce the slime Jason was referring to.

What all do you have in your tank?[/b]

hmm really...i never knew about that. My main tank actually cycled in about 3 days then everything was at 0 amonoa, nitrates My main tank is a 30 gal long which has about 40Lbs of LR and 70 Lbs of base rock which is half live right now. It was also seeded with garf grunge which made it cycle faster. hmm I never knew about that slime, is there a way to make it produce more
