i was waiting for you to chime in, this frag tank is going to have 2-400w se mh reeflux 12k on hamilton e ballasts with mini LB's. the tank is 48 L x 24 w x 12 h. ive researched so much spectral analysis data that i lost track as to how much, so unless you or anyone else can show me scientific data that proves otherwise, this will be the set up.

the way i figure it, the par meter will let me know.

    thanks

Yeah, there is a link to my thread. No one has done a reflector analysis of the LB that I know of.

You've seen my tank before because you posted on the thread.

theres an analysis on the LB, ive seen it in the research for this project. when you can show me scientific data that backs what your talking about let me know. ill look into it and consider the data.

your tank looks nice, i see your sps's on top. have you ever used a par meter to find out the readings?

Reef the only think.. i will use 10k as they have much more par then 12k.. also daylight has much more but you will loose the colour of the coral.. 10k should be a goot half-way.. also 12k (i use 12.5 and 14k on my display tank and will use 10k on the frag.. but i thin ki will try to test a 6.5k and 10k... first month under the 6.5 and second on 10k.. just to see if the colour lost is permanent or not.. as i saw that under 6500k they grow faster..)

my frag tank will be 65 x 17 x 17 (but only 8-10 inch of water.. the other space is used as reservoir if i have a blackout or to put 2 layers of frag if i will have more request..) but the idea is same as you.. long.. not much tall and not much wide as isnt a display.. nothing more then a BB glass tank

would like to see your working ^^ mine will require 9 months i hope..

Nope never used a PAR meter. No one in the area has one and I'm not going to spend $300 for the Apogee when all my corals are doing fine.

Where is your data that proves why the Lumen Bright's are the reflector to use?

so, help me understand this, you want me to get the information on what your telling me not to do? is that with or without a par meter?

the tank will not be near a window or an open source of light besides the metal halides. ive tested a couple bulbs and found the reeflux 12k to be the best so far. aqualine ab 10k and a spsblue 10k are worlds apart. for now i have spsblue 14k on my 75 till the frag tank is up. the new tank that will be 72w x 45w x 25h and im looking forward to getting it. the new tank is what started this whole domino effect.

nice construction work by the way, karma.

    tnx mate ^^
btw.. for daylight i was speaking about Osram 6500k HQI bulbs.. i wont use real sun light.. last time i tryed i only made a grass-land of algae :D and we wont it .. hehe..
but i saw something nice in the past using 6500K lamps.. the good is corals seems to grow faster (and if you want to sell it's good..) the bad... corals become brown.. and that's really bad if you want to sell them..

then i read something.. that if you get a brown coral and put under 14-20k it will "soon" return to his natural colour.. this is what i want to test.. if it works you can have much grow on the 6500k and then move under the 14k and get back the colour while growing a bit more.. but i have to test it..

about the domino effect :D i know the feelling.. we started with a 67 liter (15g) tank 10 years ago after years of ballons with red-fishes :D.. and we have 5 tanks now :D

then we decided to increase gallons and reduce tanks to have lower maintenance to do and have something special..

btw.. think about use T5 on the frag tank.. that can be a nice idea.. as frag tank should have few water.. if you want to put 3 inch frag and grow to 5 inch before sell you need 6 inch water only.. so T5 should win vs MH... and (at least here in italy) they are a goal about money... a little less energy.. and a cheaper replacements.. 2x250W can be substituted (hope it's a real word...) with 6x80 T5 and at least here.. they are cheaper to replace.. also because MH will last 6-9 months where T5 will last 9-12 months.. so in 1 year run.. T5 can be cheaper (in italy..) and they have also lower heat impact.. and as you will use more T5 then 2 you cna get many different light-spectrum to get a great PAR and nice colours..

    ;)

Well you said you did the research and the LB's were the best choice.
