ill probably use them instead of actinics. heat wont be an issue since the mh's are so high above the water. the company states the t5's last as long as they do, but in reality they dont.

    ive tried 5.5k, 6.5k, 10k, 13k and 14k all have a different color tinge.

hm.. in the frag i'll do i will have low water.. so if i put MH i will burn the water :D this is why i'm thinking about to use T5 for all (in the frag..) with fre inch of water over the frag 2x250W MH will burn them .. T5 last more.. cost less. and do less heat.. so easier to manage in a closed tank (under the main tank.. where heat is harder to dissipate.. ;)

my tank is 12" high and im using 2-400w that will be about 16-20" above the water, not sure how high until the par meter lets me know. once i get the lights up and runnning ill post the par test results. i have 10" of water and all the corals will sit on the bottom.

finally got the flow figured out, since there is alot i didnt want to blow the skin off the sps's or have any dead spots

the fuge lights are in and running, i still have to treat the algae before placing it in the fuge, but there is 20 lbs of sand in there with the plenum.

also hooked up the reef relief with the aatoc, ill have to wait for the CaOH2 until the other tank is coming down before i can put it line with the aatoc.

    heres some pics

more then an "house frag tank" it seems a tank in a coral farm :D .. 2x400W ?.. hm..

i think i will use a different way about the frag tank.. i will make a frag.. keep in the main tank untill it start to cover the feet.. then move to the frag tank to make it grow (slower then in the main tank) but safer and in a place where i can check it and feed with pytho constantly so i will be sure a frag in there will life perfectly untill i cant sell it..

you seems to have build a growing tank .. a BB tank :D

next time i'm in USA i should come in the east coast ^^

yup, im not building this thing to just house sps to sit there and look pretty, i want them to grow like wild fire. i am also going to dose supps along with CaOH2 and a Ca reactor along with phyto.

the only sand is in the refugium, so yes it is a bb with eggcrate and selling the frags is always an option, but keep in mind the new tank is going to be a 350 gallon sps only tank and this frag tank will stock it.

so you will use the frag to make the display grow faster ?.. you frag.. you make grow.. you put in display ? if so it's the opposite i'll do :|

once the main tank is well running i'll start to frag and sell.. was speaking to some small shops here that have only fishes and they told me they will buy corals from be at 30% the price they will sell.. so i decided to make a frag tank linked to the main sys just for it.. and as i have 10-12 tanks (used or lying in the box) i should have some i can use.. hehe..

btw.. CaOH2 should be Kalkwasser if i'm right.. so i will manage that in this way.. Ca-reactor on all day long.. pyto running lal day long (with constand feeding as in nature..) CaOH2 used only with light-off to keep pH high and avoid over-Ca dosing.. so in th day the RO/DI will flow to the sump and in the night it will flow to the CaOH2 and then to the sump
Ca-reactor exit will flow in the skimmer (to avoid pH to drop) and CaOH2 will drop in the inlet of the sump far from pumps or other equipt to be sure wont calcify nor deposit on equipt

what Phyto will you use ? (DIY i suppose) and what controller ?.. i'll DIY the body and will use the grotech sys to manage it (i think they are the best in EU for it .. also Ruwal made a cheap reactor i may think to have . they have a 30 inch one that is really cheap.. but i have 10" diameter 7' tall acrylic at nice price.. so i think...

ill do that also, but for now i need to stock the main tank

    yup

yup, but the CO2 wont be, i put the CO2 on a timer based off the dKH consumption rate of the tank. the Ca reactor is actually a CaOH2 reactor.

    nope, runs 24/7 with aatoc.
    yup
yup, live phyto in a 2 liter plastic bottle on a dual aquamedic doser along with seachem liquid reef Ca

a quad aquamedic doser will also have seachem liquid reef products ( complete, dKH, plus, trace )

there are many forms of Ca, dosing in this way covers all forms.

    also lugols solution, manually
theres more to this system than what meets the eye

    karma for your knowledge
