It is not a Carpenter's wrasse, nor is it even a Paracheilinus wrasse (flasher).

It is a sub-male (changing male from female) Cirrhilabrus lubbocki (Lubbock's fairy wrasse).

If it makes you feel any better, my C. Lubbocki was also labeled a Carpenter's Flasher when I bought him. I am constantly correcting my LFS on Fairy and Flasher labels. Recently they had a tank full of Whipfins labeled as Lubbock's. I went back the other day and was happy to see them correctly labeled :)
