I know a lot of other people have clowns that bite, but I have a young male that goes after me every time I target feed my mandarin which is 1-3 times daily. He goes for my hands and wrist and although he is small and it doesnt hurt a lot now I know as he gets older it could become painful and was wondering if anyone has anyway of attempting to keep him from doing it? I try to swat him away and flick at him but that seems to just encourage him.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Longer turkey baster or pipette. Above elbow length gloves.

Or when all else falls remove said fish from tank every time you want to put your hands in as I have to do. Clear plastic sandwich container works well for me.

i made a target feeder using a piece of rigid airline tubing, a few inches of regular airline tubing and a syringe! About $1, works great!

I have two clowns, a foxface and a unicorn tang, that attack me everytime my hands go in the tank. They are WELL fed, (read: FAT) but they do it all the time....

A fish should always know that it should never bite the hand that feeds lol

The tang and Mandarin know this. The tang let's me pet her while feeding but goes crazy on the food and bumps into rocks, and the Mandarin lets me pick him up.

It could be protecting some eggs. Look around the area they protect you might have clutches:) Good Luck
