    Martin Strel has just become the 3reef Hero of the Year. He drinks like a fish and apparently swims like one. And he is obviously a bit nuts, swimming in places he shouldn't to raise awareness for the environment. Read the amazing story of how he just swam across the entire Amazon river below!

    Swimmer Martin Strel would be the first to admit he makes the unlikeliest of athletes.
    But the 55-year-old hard-drinking Slovenian just happens to be the greatest endurance swimmer in the world... ever.
    He claimed the title by conquering the world’s most dangerous river – the Amazon – swimming 3,274 miles in 66 days, non-stop.
    “It helps to be a little crazy, to do what I do,” Martin admits.'

    I couldn't imagine driving 50 miles a day for 2 months, let alone swimming. I hope he was going down stream.

    If you read the article you may have noted that they filmed this feat and have made a movie about it called Big River Man that will play next month in the UK. Hopefully it will make it's way out here.
