Yes, just like the title states... my mandarin has eaten a formula 2 pellet. Yes, it ate it right before my eyes.

My mandarin has been curious at the stuff I have been feeding my corals and fish lately. He see's the meats near him that I feed it and he picks at it, puts it in his mouth, but then spits it out. It's quite a step since before he use to look the other way when he would see it; he would completely ignore it. But lately he has been wondering how it tastes of course. I'm hoping that he might eat it when the pod population is suffering so that he may temporarily choose to live off it till the pod population surges again.

Well, today I was feeding the fish formula 2, everyone loves those things, even my flame hawk prefers that over meats. My shrimp are sometimes hesitant to eat it, but when they are hungry, could put aside their picky food habits and eat it. So I'm feeding my fish pellets and one drops near my clam, really close to where my mandarin is looking for pods. Well, he see's it and goes after it and puts it in his mouth. As he did it I closely watch to see if he spits it out through his little holes or if he eats it. Nothing came out and nothing was spit out so it's official, he ate it.

Anyone had a mandarin that actually took algae food?
