no i do not supplement pods, ive heard cyclops is better for them because it has added viatamins and such. also i drop in some cyclops three times a day so he continually has something to snack on in the tank

Are you trying to discourage the idea? Again it is possible; something I've never understood in all my time in this hobby is why people are against keeping mandarins in tanks less then 75 gallons.

yeah i never said it couldnt be done, it just takes way more effort and money to house one, than if you had a large tank and the mandy fed itself naturally..

an old man at our country club has like a 600 gallon tank and has had a mated pair of red mandys for like 9 years or something like that..they are huge, he has a 150 gallon fuge..

thats awesome! if someone has enough motivation to keep a mandarin in a small tank it can definately be done, it ust takes about 3 times the work than in a larger tank

no it is just more difficult to raise them in a small tank..and most of the time the fish doesnt survive unless a very experienced reefer houses them..

like the guy i commented on said, the OP needs to understand what he is getting himself into before he buys the fish..

I didn't read the whole thread, but honestly don't do it. Its possible but not practical. If you want one that bad then get a bigger tank, its way to much trouble and would cost alot of money to maintain a mandarin in that small of a tank. You can do it, but its just not worth the money and trouble IMHO.

Well I see your point when I look at it through that perspective. You don't necessarily need to be an experienced reefer, but have a few months in before taking a shot at a mandarin. Do as much research as you can, and get ready to spend $150+ ::)
