    You are correct.
    The issuse is that if you do not have a fuge the mandarin can eat and deplete the stock of pods in your system slowley starving itself. Especially in a smaller tank. Now if you have a fuge there is nothing that is stopping the population of pods, thus they will actually get in your pump and provide a limit-less food source for your mandarin. I love flicking on the fuge light and watching all the critters run away as quickley as possible. It is amazing.
