+1, the concern I was going to raise as well. Competition and they are just not nice fish. If at all possible, I would seriously consider re-homing the 6 line if you are set on the Mandarin.

Sounds like you should be ready. I waited less time and have a smaller tank and mine is doing well... Even got him eating frozen mysis.. I got rid of my six line after he killed my first clown... Not sure how yours would take to a new inhabitant...

Wild caught Mandarin= considered difficult as they need the pods.
Tank Raised Mandarin by ORA = Suppose to be as easy as any normal fish since they eat prepared foods.
It would be worth the extra money and effort to see if you can order one from ORA.

My biggest concern with the sixline is pod competition. It was one of my first fish in my previous tank, and thus far he hasn't ever been aggressive. But I'll be sure to keep an eye on him!

Also, during lights out tonight I did see a decent number of TINY little pods in the display on the glass. I'm thinking of getting a dollar store loofah or sponge to soak in the fuge. I'd think that'd be an easy way to transfer pods

out of curiosity, has anyone had their LFS order the ORA mandarin? How much do they typically cost? I mean what the hobbyist pays?

Shoot...I need to change my vote on this one. That six line is going to compete very hard for those pods. BTW.......I'm sorry you are a cougs fan. Just sayin!

Don't be hatin' on the cougs! lol.

Also, the store I am going through sells ORA ones, starting at about $70 I believe.

Voted no until you do something with the 6-line.

Also, one shouldn't rely solely on the fact that ORA mandarins accept frozen, they still need plenty of pods as their metabolism has evolved for constant hunting and eating of pods. (Not that this will be a problem for you as it would be going in a 90 gallon.)

Absolutely. Remember Mandarins can only eat pods of a size small enough to fit in there tiny mouths. I would remove the wrasse first.
