    Get your Mandarin and re-arrange your life rock for your DT, this should cause your engineer goby to chill out. Get a bottle of copepods and amphipods a few weeks in advance, and dump them in the fuge with some macro algae. That breeding stock should help feed the tank.

    You'll have to keep close eye on your 'pod population, that's the reason wht mandarins are so hard to keep.

    see if a lfs near you has any that eat live worms or frozen brine shrimp i got one like that and hes been good in my 12gal for over an year

    Yes, an algae scrubber does give you the pods you need to keep a mandarin alive. It's not the main function of a scrubber, but it does it nevertheless. You will have a little "sandstorm" of white pods specs floating in the water, as long as you don't have any mechanical filters (foam, floss, skimmer, etc.)
