I have a happy and healthy pair of spotted mandarins that I got locally at aqualand aquariums, (you can find them at saltwatertropicals.com). All their mandarins are fat, and eat black worms, (aka blood worms), and bbs. The male gobbles up the flake for the damsels, the female still wants the blood worms. When the owner told me they ate blood worms I said "show me" he did, and they went nuts for them. I have owned mandarins previous to this, and I have never seen anything like it. Those people know fish.

Tough fish! Fat and healthy too! Mine are pretty tough, my seaweed blenny likes to try to scare away the mandarins, and they pay him no mind.

My LFS gets mandarins in all the time that take all kinds of prepared food without hesitating. For that reason alone I have considered them. I am still hesitant though :-/
