mangrove or not to mangrove?

    I was thinking about putting a couple in my aqua clear hob, glue egg crate 3/4 the way to the bottom to give roots a chance to settle. (not even sure if thats proven) maybe add rubble rock on the egg crate.

    First, they are not effective at nutrient reduction compared to macro algae.
    Second, they grow into big trees, not really something you put in an HOB.
    So, I would say not, but that's just my .02

    I was concerned about the root structure breaking the fuge!? I have alot of chaeto!

    agreed. removed all my mangrove for they do grow and not as effective as macro algae. roots growing everywhere on my fuge and worried that it might start to push on my baffles and break them. so out they go.
