    great article luna..and thanks to everyone else too..i just hung the light in my cabinet and the mangroves should be here wednesday..i will take a nitrate reading tomorrow and again in a month to see if i notice anything..i only have around 6 inches of water where they will be sitting..so the leaves and such will be out of the water..it sounds like i will be doing a reverse lighting cycle..the cabinet glow should make a nice nightlight for my room lol Thanks again everyone for your input

    How deep is the water supposed to be for the mangroves? do they need to be in sand also?

    To be on the "safe" side, the seed should be half way in and half way out of the water.

    I have to contradict that they shouldn't be fully submerged. I have 15 of these growing in my fuges and they all rooting. the roots are all that really matters with these plants.

    they can be grown in sand..rocks..or bare bottom from what i understand

    They shouldnt be totaly submerged in water.
