Bought this rock from my lfs. The guy said it was some kind of polyp? Im new to saltwater but this looks kinda like a manjo anemone. Any thoughts? And if it is what are some ideas to get rid of it. Ive seen people take the rock out and burn them off with a torch. Is that a good idea?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks like your standard Aiptasia to me. You can get rid of it however you choose, just to not boil the rock. If it was me I would take it right back to the local fish store guy. Some kind of polyp my arse.

Aiptasia, similar to "manjo" anemones, but easier to get rid of. I'd do a 3reef search (powered by google) at the top right corner of the site.

Mods should just sticky a thread for getting rid of aiptasia, its getting worse than spam. lol

manjo anemone, that's a first. I believe you're looking for mojano anemone ;)

I wouldn't burn it off. Your going to cook the rock and a bunch of beneficial life when doing it. This will cause issues when you put that rock back in your tank. I would recommend using Joes Juice or Apastia X. Ive had great success with Apaistia X.

I guess im going to pick up some aiptasia x this weekend and see if I can get rid of this. I was thinking of doing a water change and put the rock in the old saltwater and killing it in there. Then rinsing it off before puting it bak in the tank. Ill hold off on the death by flame idea lol.

Do you have any Kalwasser? Mrs. Ward's Picking lime? Same thing.

Mix up a stong dose with a bit of water and use a small syringe, needle or not, and shoot it right on top of it, just a small amount so the clam won't get hit much.

MIght take a few tries a few days apart.
Cheap, easy, do it where the rock is
    Won't hurt your tank chemistry
