need a better pic, curious though is that tank made of glass?
looks like it from the reflection. Gotta be careful with a mantis.

Nothing you can do about it, but maintain water quality so an infection doesn't occur. It will likely go away after a molt.

It won't get over 8"... but it does need a bigger tank.

stepho is right on with that. not much you can do. in the future upgrade and a good thing to do when you upgrade if you still use glass is to put a piece of acrylic on the bottom for when they dig so they cant shatter the bottom.

Definitely need a better picture to assess what your saying. Are there any other signs of shell rot or deformities?

What type of lighting are you using and what is your light cycle? Keep in mind that peacocks are more suseptable to shell rot and other shell related disorders than some mantis.

Also along those same lines what are you nitrates testing at? Kinda relates to the same thing as the lighting.

If it is out, active, and smashing I would keep an eye on it but not necessarily freak out. Like mentioned may just me a thing that grows out in a future molt. Dont dose iodine or other molt inducing chems, let it occur naturally.

I hate to break the news ot some of the non mantis keepers but not every mantis out there is a glass breaking murderous monster. The occurences of a mantis damaging a tank are rare, far & in between. 98% of mantis glass break stories are friend of a friend who heard from someone else stories. Even Dr. Roy who is undoubtedly one of the world experts on stomatopods has only seen it a handful of times in his 20-30 years studying them. Even then the glass breaking was only in very large fully grown specimens. While a six gallon is thing glass unless the owner is taunting it into striking the odds of it doing it otherwise are highly unlikely. Breaking glass and damaging tanks are two different things. Mantis dig and burrow and can at times get along the seems of tank making the seal come loose and tank leak.

At 2 inches I would say its on the small side and consider a future upgrade like others have said.
