Huh, that's very interesting. I didn't know they had such great vision.

That article ticked me off when I read the "vicious claws" part. Bull crap. I have 2 mantis at home, and neither have claws on them thank you very much. And if they're so vicious, why do they take krill from my hand without cutting my fingers off? *sigh* At least mantis are making the news now...

And yes. They have fantastic vision. And also have the fastest attack of any animal in the world. Also, their attack is the fastest in the world, and yet it is underwater. Air is almost 800 times less dense than water, so just imagine how that would effect that attack on land! They are amazing creatures. I refuse to shop at any LFS's that say otherwise. My mom and I have 2 mantis at home, and our better LFS has some in their display reef tanks. One of them is a fully grown N. Wennerae that lives in their giant display tank in the back, and he lives in a PVC structure on the left front of the tank. I've seen him :) Which goes to show that mantis can live with fish and corals without a problem. A snail may disappear every now and then, but that's ok for an LFS

They're slowly getting a good reputation. Slowly.
