well i may be able to talk my dad into letting me order online as long as its a reputable dealer. live aquaria has a "clown mantis" which is a peacock so any others? i've looked at stomatopod.com but they are asking a lot. also would an orange spot mantis shrimp fit in a 10 gal?

i managed to train bert ( my peacock) to leave fish alone. took about 4 months but they are very smart creatures. i know its not the best to have sacrificed so many mollys but i had them readily available because they keep having babbys and it was either food for sish or let them grow and use them to train bert. i chose the later option. he did kill alot of them so i cannot advise on doing this but it is possible. fish as tank mates is possible just need to train the mantis and they MUST be extremely peaceful fish imo because when the mantis molts you dont want an evil damsel killing you mantis. so bert has 4 molly friends that live wwith him :) hasnt touched them yet:) knock on wood

orange spot mantis will fit in a 10 gal, as long as you stay on top of water chemistry. I wouldn't do a orange spot in a 10 gal without a skimmer, it can be done but thats just me.

I loved my peacock mantis Bob...rest in peace! Even though I have an octopus in that tank now it is not the same LOL!

If you want a peacock then I would recommend you invest in a bigger tank Bob was about 11 inches long when she died (yes it is a she...thought it was a he because of her coloring but right before she died she laid eggs) It seems like you want a peacock really bad so I would look around and try to find an appropriate tank for it. If you are going ot do it....do it right!

I have only had a peacock...so I am partial to them!

In regards to them breaking the tank....I think all that needs to be said has been said. However I will add from my readings that a lot of the tanks that broke was due to some IDIOT having thier kid tap on the tank and messing with it....AND the tank already being cracked, chipped or such. Best way to avoid breaking tanks is to have rounded or curved edges and dont tease it!

i dont know why people tease their fish :( i wouldnt do that (didnt say you accused me of it just clearing hte good name) the only animal i tease is my 100 lbs yellow lab but thats only when we play tag (oh yea hes pretty good at it too) lol i like the peacocks color but also like the other two i mentioned. if it were my choice i would rather have one of the two because i have the stuff i need for them already. i might just order the thing online. for the orange spot it would cost around 67 dollars shipped O.0 yea i know. os i may just take what the lfs gives me lol
