    I meant "SMASHER" not spearer....

    From Stomatopod.com:

The O.scyllarus (Peacock) species can reach 7" in length. Be sure to place this stomatopod in a suitable size and well constructed system. Generally, most peacocks under 5" do not have the power to crack glass tanks. Those above 5" have the ability to damage glass.

    G. smithii do not have the power to crack glass tanks.

The G. smithii species can reach 4.7" in length. Be sure to place this stomatopod in a suitable size and well constructed system. Generally G. ternatensis do not have the power to crack glass tanks.

    ------------

So I guess I will just get a G. Ternatensis as it doesnt have the power to crack glass. I really like the peacock though. I suppose I will start with a G Ternatensis and if I enjoy keeping a mantis I will get a acrylic 30G for a O. Scyllarus.

That's exactly what I was thinking, and that sounds like a great plan Bje.... I would recomend if your going to keep a Peacock Mantis to have an Acrylic tank, as you already stated.... sounds like you have everything under control now.... take it easy fellow Mantis fan!

    O. scyllarus, O. japonicus, and G. Chiragra are capable of doing damage to thin glass.

5/16 may be pushing it for the first two species, but IMO would be perfectly acceptable for G. Chiragra, and any other species.

We have 2 mantis tanks, neither are reinforced. at all. One's a Nano Wave 9 (now discontinued) and the other is a Biocube 14. The wave has a 2" long N. Wennerae in it. The biocube has a 3.5" smithii in it.

I would only reinforce a tank if it was a fully grown peacock in it (I have no real desire for other mantis that can break glass).
