Mantis shrimp Id please

    He is about 2 to 2.5 inches long... he is mostly brown or aka camo on top and like a lime green under what do yall think???

    If it has Spears I'm going to take a guess that He/She is a Oratosquilla oratoria. If you do have this type grats as I've learned that Spearing Mantis Shrimp are hard to come by in the states. Without seeing it, its hard to say, alot of the Baby Mantis are brown at first before developing vibrant colors, if so a few moltings will do the trick to bring his color out. If your really lucky you could have landed yourself with a Stargazer Mantis....very beautiful specimen, wouldnt mind owning one if i could find it at a reasonable price.

    How can I tell if it has spears or if its a rammer

    try and feed it would be my guess. there are a few on here that love keeping them as pets.....

    and pic would def help a lot. heck i dont know anything about caring for them but i could prob id it for you if you had a pic. jsut an idea man. good luck on the id.

    I think it is a "Neogonodactylus bredini" but idk i will def have to get a pic

    he def got my finger the other day and it felt like a cut not a hit though...

    Does it have little "knots" at the end of the larger appendages tucked up close to him, or is there "serrated" appendages?

    Okay still unable to get a pic because lack of camera... But some more facts about. This guy came from Florida so I am thinking it is a Caribbean rock mantis. BUT he is not a smasher I can tell that he has spears... But I still wanna try to id him...
