Mantis Shrimp ***Updated with Videos 12/03/10***

After asking these questions I decided to go ahead and pick him up from a friend. updated with some videos..


Question about a mantis shrimp. I do not know what kind it is, I will post a pic when I get it. Just wanted to know if a mantis will kill and urchin or mini serpent starfish. I know they will kill crabs and snails, but will they leave the other stuff alone?

 

Will depend on what kind of mantis and what kind of urchin.

What kind of urchin?

 

I believe it is a long spine urchin.

 

Aw... you should be fine then, no matter what the mantis is. They can't get at the body of the longspine. I did have a tuxedo go bye bye. My long spine lived forever with a mantis until he was too big and I gave him away.

 

what about the small mini serpent stars, or brittle star?

 

Naw... he won't mess with those.

 

ok well I had someone local to me that had a mantis shrimp. They didnt want it. So I took it. I dont know what kind it is, however I do know it is a smasher. So that being said here is a couple videos of it.
