Has anyone attempted to do so? I don't typically frag or split things (such as mushrooms) as I would prefer them to do so naturally, bu I was curious as to if candy cane's have been split before. I should specify what I mean by split. By split I mean slicing a head down the center and through the mouth, like one would do to split a mushroom.

I have never done so and I dont think I ever would. This is just my personal experience but with relatively stable conditions, alkalinity in particular they grow very well in most tanks. Feeding can skyrocket the growth rate of these corals as well. Cutting it would induce more stress than what is necessary and it would probably take the coral longer to recover than it would to split that head naturally. But with that being said, if you want to give it a shot go for it. lol

I don't think I will ever do so either, especially if no one else has.

i personally would not try it. IMO candy canes are one of those things that can grow very fast, however can also go down very fast (one coral i have had bad success with) I would just let them grow new babies

My two-headed frag is fat and happy, so I don't want to mess with him. I just wish he would make me happy and split lol.
