maracyn-two safe for DT?

I believe i have a bacterial infection in my DT which has become noticible on 2 of my fish. Should i pull them out and dose the QT or will i need to treat my DT?? My foxface has got a cloudy eye and some weird spots that look like his skin has peeled in places. It's not ich and from what i have read it points to bacterial..is this the right stuff to use? someone had suggested to me Melafix by API as a possible medication. anyone use either and where do you dose?

 

I posted in your hospital tank thread... but you might also consider a fresh water dip, or a medicated dip. I have treated my clown fish with dips, worked great. They get all freaked out, but 3-5 minutes doesn't hurt them. Match the tank temp, catch the fish, transfer them by hand to the FW, set a timer for 4 minutes, and watch them. They will often turn upside down as their swim bladder is built for the density of salt water, just turn them over if they dont on their own after a few seconds.

With my clown fish I had some kind of fluke or worm, as soon as they went in the fresh water the worm came out, flopped around on the bottom of the tank, and died. Many parasites will respond the same. Bacterial and viral infections less so, but perhaps a medicated dip would help for those cases.

 

I have dosed my reefs and F/O many many times over the yrs with Mardel labs maracyn- one and two

 

awesome thanks for the response....i couldn't find maracyn or maracyn 2 but i did find maracyn plus.....never herd of it but as maracyn and maracyn 2 are banned from crossing into canada LFS's cant buy it! something to do with the demand for it being too high and madrel not being able to boost supply they don't supply outside of the U.S anymore! what a bunch of B.S! spent 2 days trying to find the stuff

 

How much do they bust you for to import it ? I know I have sent lamps and dry goods up there and they add a hell of a tax , I guess to pay for free healthcare . I loaned a guy a fish trap several yrs ago and the duty fee was ? 20.00 I think or close to that .
