I picked up a Marine Betta about six weeks ago. What a stunning fish. I thought that it would be hidden most of the time. To my surprise it lives at the front of the tank under a huge piece of flat LR. It likes to watch me waiting for food.
Does anyone know what works best to get it to eat pellets or frozen food? I currently have a tank set up with ghost shrimp for it. It only watches the frozen food float by. It's worth feeding live if that's what it takes!!!
    Any Ideas? Thanks

They are beautiful fish. My LFS has one but he said a man had brought it in because it kept eating all of his inverts.....I know some people say to soak food in selcon (I'm not familiar with it) but many recommend it as food enhancement and also garlic...that seems to entice fish to eat frozen.....If he has a lot of live to choose from, that may have to be gone and him to get hungry before he'll try something else - just a thought...

They are known for being very finicky eaters that have a hard time adjusting to a flake or pellet diet. What are you currently feeding?

RODs original blend or RODs pacific plankton seem to get good feedign responses from almsot any fish. The Original blend contains a lot of different types of food in one so almost every fish finds something worth eating. PE Mysis is also a very good food that gets a good feedign response from most fish.

Im not saying it will work for sure, a lfs had a Copperband butterfly and tried everything including Rods with no luck, but it has a much better shot than pellets. At least it eats live food for you!

Great ideas! The day after my post it started eating frozen mysis shrimp. I feed it ghost shrimp but had cut it back over the last week. It started searching a bit more lately. I always feed the whole tank at the same time.
I feed pellets, flakes, mysis and marine snow. Also seaweed for the Tangs. The corals get phyto and zoo from a bottle and a frozen plankton that comes with the mysis.
If anyone has any suggestions? I jus rescued the betta from under a rock at the back of the tank ! Lucky I noticed it missing. . . Phew
