Marine Pro Skimmers

Marineland recently came out with a new skimmer the Marine Pro all in one protein skimmer. So when I purchased my new 135g tank, my LFS store recommended that I purchase the Marine Pro 305, which I did. I have had the skimmer for approximately 4 1/2 weeks, had the skimmer off for 1 week of that and now the skimmer is broke! I have not had anything but trouble with that thing from day one. First of all, I found the flow control knob was too low, as it would often times be under water in my sump...this caused the skimmer to malfunction. If I lowered the water level in my sump so that the knob was above the water level, then my pumps would run dry. Then when I figured out to raise the skimmer up a little, the amount of skimmate was very minimal. I would say in 4 weeks I had approximately 1 inch of waste from the skimmer. Then today it stopped working all together. Tomorrow I am going back to the store and demanding that they replace the skimmer with a different one. I guess that will teach me to be the first one to try something in my city! New is not always better!

Has anybody else tried this skimmer and what are your opinions?

thanks, I will look into that. I will probably only be able to exchange the skimmer for what they have in stock and I am not sure I have seen that particular skimmer on hand, but will check. Looks like a great one.
