I have set up a 30 gallon tank with crushed coral as my substrate, Aquaclear filtration, has heater, used artificial reef coral Reef Aquarium Decoration #R046 for Saltwaterfish Tanks, Medium it has cycled for a month now.

Is there a type of marine fish that can be used in this tank such as goby that would just require the addition of salt? I original set this up for African Cichlids to have the reef look at a lower cost but wanted to weigh my options on fish. Thank you

    All saltwater fish need salt.

That would be the addition of adding Sea Salt correct? If so again is there a type of salt/marine fish that can survive in my tank setup?

Adding reef salt to an already cycled fresh water tank will kill any and all bacteria established in the tank. Therefore your going to have to start a new cycle. This can be done using different methods. Without the use of live rock and live sand your going to need a source of bacteria to seed the tank.

You can use Instant Ocean salt and you'll also need a Hydrometer or a refractometer to measure your salinity/specific gravity. Ideal levels for a fish only saltwater tank is 1.022~1.026. Just know that salt water fish are not cheap and most local fish stores won't even guarantee them. With a 30 gallon tank you'll be limited to the size of fish that will thrive in your tank. But there are some wonderful beautiful fish out there for you :)
Whatever you choose please research the needs of that fish. Google it or check back here with us. We're always glad to help :) Welcome to the world of saltwater!

I'd skip the hydrometer and get a refractometer.

Have you added an ammonia source to start the cycle? You'll need to re-cycle if you cycled it with no salt...

I personally don't find this to be true. I guess cheap depends on each person but you can get some beautiful fish for $5-10.

OP, do you already have a test kit? If not should definitely consider getting one.

Wow thanks for all the replies. First off I plan on ordering from Live Aquaria unless you all have a better suggestion. We don't have an LFS and all of my supplies right down to the tank equipment came from offline always does. I set the tank up substrate free while I made my mind up on which way I was going. I have the crushed coral now. I put in some danios for cycling. I planned on ordering the test kit either for salt or fresh once again after my mind was fixed on whether a couple of cichlids or try some salt fish suitable for a nano tank. My main concern right now is this set up to work. So if I am reading you right, a few nano fish would be okay as long as I have the salt and hydrometer/refractometer? Yes a test kit for sure, thanks for helping me here always did freshwater tanks large ones, wanted a small nano reef this go round.

A goby probably wouldnt do well with a crushed coral substrate. I'm not sure if the freshwater cycle will be any good if you add salt to the tank. It might be a different bacteria culture.
