As some may know, I have a 55 gallon FOWLR. I was planning on purchasing a MH fixture, but my hood is glass, and the heat trapped might be catastrophic in my aquarium unless I bought a chiller. Anyways, even though they're expensive, LED seems to be the easiest solution. I saw this Marineland Reef Capable LED Aquarium Lighting System at PETCO fixture in my LFS and it was 50% off. :D but I didn't purchase because I needed time to think. I'm wondering just how reef capable this light is. The LEDs are each 1W and I'm wondering if this will be enough in my 55 to sustain softies, LPS, and SPS. :) thanks for any help.

Reef Incapable is a better name for them...

They're cheap and prone to failures, and most definitely won't sustain SPS. You could probably make it work for some softies and the real low-light LPS, but that'd be it.

If you want LEDs, you're much better off in spending up to 50% more and getting something you'll be happy with in the long-run.

Even if you weren't planning on get corals later I'd still be hesitant on saying go for it. If your are worried about heat and don't want to get to pricey maybe t5s? Also that fixture was 50% off because they have had such bad reviews prolly.

Are there any brands and or fixtures of LEDs that you would recommend?

I'm partial to going the DIY method but I've heard good things about the AI sol fixtures. I don't know what you price range is or anything though.
