I had purchased these a couple years ago... paired with some t5's AWESOME... BUT keeping the tank without a lid did a number on the switch... it doesnt turn on or off... so i made my own switch and now the actual plug (power cord) almost started to get oxidized and looks like it almost caught fire... I found the actual switch on amazon but I would love some help for those who have done a DIY. Everything is intact with this set up minus the power. I dont want to drop another couple hundred on lights if I can find a good DIY set up for the power supply. PLEASE HELP!!!

Pictures would help! Not sure what you're asking to replace as i doubt many on here have experience with that fixture! But sounds easy enough, replace it and solder the wires back in place! Sorry not getting the question

If it is correct that i understand,
Get rid of the switch and connect the circuit directly and seal it.
Then use timer consent is the cheapest and simple way i guess.

It gets really hot I would make a DIY light that will be more useful. It's barely usable as a fuge light.

Im with the others, not very clear on what you are asking. But those fixtures have a high failure rate and basically no useable output in means of par. In my opinion it wouldn't be worth spending much time on them. If you are looking for supplemental lighting for your t5s, some par38 leds would be a nice option.

Sorry for the late reply. Ok here goes. The ac plug looks charged so that's the latest issue. The original toggle switch felt like the saltwater damagged it. The toggle moves back n forth with no give its lose and will not turn anything on or off. So I picked up a toggle from radio shack and it worked well for a couple months before the casing on the lamp started to melt and now the ac plug is charged I cant plug it back in. All the LEDS work its just the power supply that's screwed up. I am looking for advice on a simple DIY fix so I can save these LEDS

Seriously they are pretty crumby. Call Marineland or email them I bet they will send you a new light for free.
