So I dunno if any of you had caught my previous posts but in a nutshell we had an inch long maroon and a 4" Clarkii...Clarkii is out of tank now. Yesterday we got another maroon that's the same size as orig one in hopes that they will pair. They liplocked and fought a bit yesterday but have ceased. Now the new one has taken up residence in the nem at bottom of tank. The orig M never got close to the nem, primarily because the Clarkii ruled that roost. Today the orig. maroon won't leave it's spot at top of tank behind filter box. I fed the tank and used my finger to scoot it dwn so it would realise food was present and the new M chased it off. What should I do? Did I mess this all up?

Give it some time to get used to the tank IMO. Since they were the same size it might take a bit for them to establish dominance. Good for taking out the Clarkii, two different kinds of clowns in a tank that small can be a problem.

+1 on what screw said. Maroons are often regarded as the most aggressive clown species, and the female will usually harass the male until she accepts him as a mate. Its not uncommon to hear of a female going so far as to kill the male, so try to keep an eye on em. Good luck!

Sounds good. All in all, this sounds like normal behavior. Give it some time, and the female should 'accept' the male as a mate.
