Lighting 2x54 T5's. Just bought another 4x54 T5 set to add to the 2x54, its in the mail.

    My last params were:
    Ammonia - 0
    PH - 7.8
    Nitrite - 0
    KH - 10
    Calcium - 440
    Nitrate - 10
    Phos - .25
    SpecGrav - 1.023
Temp - usually at 78, but with the Florida summer it can get to 80

The tank is about 8 months old

What kind of powerhead would you recommend? 55 gallon tank

that's probably not a good sign, it honestly reminds me off a last ditch effort to find some place better.

    what do you feed it?

You could make an intake sponge from a sponge block. ;)

Also, after reading your other posts, I see you have an issue, here. Don't know if it's your problem or not, but one thing I've learned about the Condy is that they don't like strong current. Mine was the same way until I readjusted a powerhead to give him a calmer corner. He hasn't moved since.

    Cheers

The clown takes pretty good care of it. I feed my fish Dr. G's mysis gut loaded and Dr. G's omnivore mix. The clown usually takes some omnivore mix to the condy, never mysis though, but I spot feed it mysis once a week.

Will try the sponge block, just wrap it around and secure it with some rubberbands or something. Does that take away some of the efficiency of the powerhead?

The current is as low as it can go in the corner where it is.

It would be easier in the long run to carve a hole in the center of the block the same length as the intake screen but slightly smaller in diameter so it fits snugly, then cut it about 1/2 in longer so the end stays closed. You can also trim the outside so it's about 1/4 in thick. That's really all you need.

No, it won't affect the efficiency of the powerhead, but you'll need to remove it periodically for cleaning. Trapped food and waste will raise the DOCs and cause your nitrates to skyrocket if not dealt with properly.

    Cheers
