why is it I cant seem to keep 2 maroon clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus) together. The one picked at my new one tell he died. Just wondering if there is info on this or what. Kinda stumps me here have seen tanks with 2 in them before but cant seem to understand it. Was it because they were both male? I have heard that they can be agressive maybe there is just not enough room for them? I have a 100 Gallon tank so you would think there was enough room.

Help me understand this please I feel so bad for not looking this up first

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Older Maroon clownfish are harder to pair. I finally had to give up on my female as she killed every fish that went into the tank.

Next time consider a significantly smaller clown and change the scape up a little prior to introduction of the new clownfish.

    Good Luck

I would buy 2 maroons that were in the same tank before when you buy them, and make sure they are small.

Yes, once a fish becomes that aggressive it is highly unlikely it will allow another fish of the same kind to co-exist with it. There would be an outside possibility of it allowing another by the use of a tank separator or a large container, like an acclimating container with a lot of holes that would float. The new fish is in essence in the tank and protected and sometimes the old guy will grow accustomed to the new fish. It is 50/50 if after it is released (after 7-10 days) the old guy will tolerate the new one.

Also on a side note, she will never have a boyfriend. A solitary clown will always turn female. ;)
