maroon clown, nano reef, ile maroon clown thats a little less that an inch and a half in my 10 gallon tank. I have 13 pounds of live rock, and a HOB filter that is rated for a 30 gallon with 150 gph. I also have a submersible heater and 10 pounds of live sand and a small mushroom coral. I have no skimmer, but i do 20% water changes every other week. I only have 1 fish and I only plan on having 1, it is my clown. also i have 2 blue legged hermits. My question is when will my fish outgrow its tank? I plan on getting a 20 gallon long in about a year is that too late?

He will definitely outgrow it unfortunately. I have one that is around 5 inches long but have seen ones that are bigger. He is around 8-9 years old but they can live pretty long. I know a guy who has had a pair for 14 years. But for the time being he will be okay. I would personally upgrade to a 55 gallon if you can and give him some room.

If you are looking at 20 gallon long, you might consider a 29 gallon as well. Its close same length and width dimensions, but taller and a few inches wider. Great for if you ever decide to add fish, and way more affordable than a 55! Plus it will give you more area to grow your reef vertically.

As already said, he will eventually outgrow the tank. I would go to petco the next time they do their $1 a gallon and pick up a 40b or a 55g.
