I think the left side looks good. On the right side if it were me I'd try to move that really large rock around to open it up more. Make that section look more like a cave. Other than that I think it looks fine.

Cheryl, your idea is basically what I was planning more or less. I am going to connect the two islands. The sloping ends sounds interesting. And yes, I do have other tanks for rock, including a 40 gallon sump for this tank. So if I can't make a piece or two work, down they will go. I appreciate the comments/advice as always :)

I agree on the left side. Not much is needed there. I am going to try and make the large rock work. If it doesn't I will need to chop it up. My Midas Blenny will be ticked off though, as that is his home :)

    Lights are a great improvement!

Maybe it's just the pic, but they don't look 100% level. Are you going to level them?

I love the walls and the crown molding you have in your home. Looking at that and your Aquarium, just an idea, If I lived there I probably would build something like the pdf I attached. It would be just as inexpensive. Sorry I am bored here at work and was admiring your aquarium. Although, I must be honest and say that I'm not a big fan of how you attached your lights. Sorry.

Thanks! I think I mentioned it in the build post, but I did not spend any real time getting them level. So yes, I do intend to get them at least a little more level.

Well I have to say thanks for taking so much time thinking about my lights ;D That is certainly an interesting design, and something I am fully capable building. One of the reasons I went the way I did was because I did not want to drill anchors into either the wall of ceiling. I may have to photoshop your design and see how it would look completed. The stand is cherry red though, so I would think any kind of a canopy/lighting enclosure would need to match.

But again, I do appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

    everythings looking good man!
just a idea for your lights.... you could get rid of the 2 center hang bars and just use the outside 2 by making this out of angle iron like i did. super easy to do. the lights just sit in the metal so you can slide them around or remove them if need be. imo it would look alot cleaner. but you definitely did a good job on what you have now.

Another great idea! I will show the wife these options and see what she thinks. I know she is fine with how they are now (which is half the battle!). I would have no problem building this either.

    Appreciate the input guys!

Ok, the day finally came to re-'scape. We are getting new windows for the 2nd and 3rd floors today, so no kids in the house, and not much else I could do besides hang out while they work :)

So here we go, out with the old (lights and 'scape):

And in with the new (lights and 'scape):
